What You Need to Know About Apple's Vision Pro
Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) kicked off on Monday, and among the many products announced, the Apple Vision Pro was the most eye-catching. The headset is designed to be a powerful and immersive AR experience, and it is expected to be released in 2024. It is expected to be priced at $3499.
While it looks like just an AR headset, it is a powerful computing device unto itself with its own operating system. Vision Pro features two ultra-high-resolution displays that each pack 23 million pixels. This gives users a stunningly realistic and immersive AR experience. The headset also uses eye tracking and hand tracking to track the user's gaze and hands, respectively. This allows the headset to render objects and text in the user's field of view, even if they are not directly looking at them. Users can also interact with AR objects and text using their hands, without the need for controllers. Apple Vision Pro is powered by the M2 chip, which is Apple's latest and most powerful chip.
Despite all the criticism its drawing for its price point and potential utility, it cannot be denied that Vision Pro is a significant development in the AR industry.
Here is Marques Brownlee telling you everything that you need to know about Apple Vision Pro
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has been critical of Apple's Vision Pro headset. In a companywide meeting on June 8, 2023, Zuckerberg reportedly said that the Vision Pro "doesn't have any magical solutions" that Meta hasn't already explored. He also said that the Vision Pro is "too expensive" and that its marketing shows people "sitting on a couch by themselves." Read More »»»
Zuckerberg's comments come as Meta is preparing to launch its own AR headset, the Project Cambria. Project Cambria is expected to be released in 2023 and is priced at $899.
Looks like we are in for a fierce competition between Meta and Apple in the AR market.

United States SEC Going After Crypto Exchanges
On June 7, 2023, the SEC filed two separate lawsuits against the two crypto exchanges - Binance and Coinbase, alleging that they violated federal securities laws by operating unregistered securities exchanges. The SEC alleges that Binance operated an unregistered securities exchange from 2017 to 2021, and that Coinbase operated an unregistered securities exchange from 2019 to 2023. The SEC also alleges that both exchanges allowed users to trade tokens that were considered securities, but which were not registered with the SEC. Are We Living Through a Period of Moral Decline?
On June 7, 2023, science journal Nature published an article titled "The illusion of moral decline" by Andrea Mastroianni and Daniel T. Gilbert, which argues that anecdotal evidences of people believing that the world is in a moral decline is an illusion resulting from well understood twin psychological phenomenon of biased exposure to information and biased memory for information. It concludes that, people's perceptions of moral decline are often inaccurate and there is no evidence to suggest that people are becoming less moral over time. Read Article Here »»»
