The Purge
We firmly believe that the quality of our readership matters more than its size. We are immensely proud of the growth we've experienced over the past year, reaching around 11,000 subscribers, and maintaining an impressive open rate of nearly 25%.
But, of course, there are a number of readers who we were unable to keep engaged, and now our newsletters are just spamming their inboxes.
To ensure that our newsletters are valued and relevant to our subscribers, we have implemented a regular purge process. Today, we have initiated the first purge, which resulted in the removal of 819 subscribers. This practice will continue as part of our commitment to delivering valuable content to an engaged audience. By doing so, we strive to keep our publication meaningful and relevant to those who truly appreciate it.

TWO IDEAS, FRAMEWORKS OR CONCEPTS
This week we bring to you two concepts - Dysrationalia &Path Dependence
Dysrationalia
Dysrationalia is a term coined by psychologist Keith Stanovich to describe the inability to think and behave rationally despite having adequate intelligence. It is not a clinical disorder, but rather a concept in educational psychology.
In common parlance, it means just because someone is intelligent, doesn’t mean their intelligence is pursuing intelligent goals. It’s possible to devote a genius-level intelligence to justifying idiotic opinions and behaviours. Tragically, a common fate of intellectuals.

Path Dependence
Path dependence is a concept in economics and the social sciences, referring to processes where past events or decisions constrain later events or decisions. It can be used to refer to outcomes at a single point in time or to long-run equilibria of a process.
In common usage, the concept suggests that certain decisions or events in the past can have a lasting impact on the present, even if they are no longer the most efficient or effective option. The example of the QWERTY keyboard layout still prevalent into the digital age despite its inefficiency for typing is an illustration of path dependence.

After hitting 100 Million Users, Threads Activity Slows
On Monday, Threads crossed 100 million users within just 5 days of its launch, which was a remarkable feat. However, since then, the Instagram federated app by Meta has experienced a decline in user engagement and daily activity. Interestingly, during the same period, Twitter has witnessed its highest ever user engagement. It appears that those who prematurely labelled Threads as a potential "Twitter killer" may have spoken a little too soon. Read More»»»
