A tool to bring imagination and logic together
We often hear the phrase, ‘think outside of the box’ - it is essentially used to suggest to delve beyond the convention yet not completely go off in the realm of imagination. How does one do that? Conventional process prescribes that we premise any of our thoughts within the known fundamental truth.
For example, building a faster train for long was premised on the fundamental truth that its wheels run on a railroad. A departure from that rewarded us with magnetic levitation and high speed rails.
Thought experiments bring imaginative premise and logical deduction together, potentially creating the possibility of a breakthrough outcome.
