ONE STORY IN A PICTURE
TWO IDEAS, FRAMEWORKS OR CONCEPTS
This week we bring to you two concepts - Dysrationalia & Bogus Wisdom
Dysrationalia
Dysrationalia is a term coined by psychologist Keith Stanovich to describe a difficulty or impairment in reasoning and decision-making despite having adequate intelligence. It's essentially a concept that refers to a gap between a person's general intelligence and their ability to apply rational thinking in various situations.
Individuals with dysrationalia may struggle with critical thinking, logical reasoning, and making sound judgments, even if they possess a high level of intelligence in other areas. The term is used to highlight that intelligence is not synonymous with rationality and that cognitive abilities can vary across different domains.
Dysrationalia can manifest in various ways, such as making poor decisions, falling for logical fallacies, or being easily influenced by cognitive biases. It underscores the importance of not only having intelligence but also cultivating effective reasoning skills to navigate complex situations and make optimal choices.

Bogus Wisdom
Bogus Wisdom refers to information, advice, or teachings that appear to be wise or authoritative but are, in fact, false, misleading, or lacking in substance. It involves the presentation of ideas or guidance that may sound profound or insightful on the surface but lacks credibility, evidence, or a basis in reality.
This concept highlights the importance of critical thinking and discernment in evaluating the information we encounter.
In a world where information is abundant, distinguishing between genuine wisdom and bogus wisdom becomes crucial. Individuals may encounter bogus wisdom in various forms, such as self-help advice, motivational quotes, or even purportedly expert opinions that lack a solid foundation.

Apple Unveils Compliance Plans with EU's Digital Markets Act Amidst Criticism
On January 26, Apple has unveiled updated strategies to adhere to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) within the European Union. Apple's adjustments to iOS, Safari, and the App Store in the EU involve offering users more details about alternative browsers, presenting new choices for app distribution, and introducing over 600 new APIs and enhanced app analytics.
These modifications are a direct response to the EU's designation of Apple as a 'gatekeeper' platform and the App Store as a Core Platform Service under the DMA. However, Apple's approach to DMA implementation has faced criticism, with some officials expressing concerns that it may not sufficiently offer meaningful choices for users. Read Moreยปยปยป
