If you are not a paid subscriber, here is what you missed last week:
Are you a founder worrying about your payment processor getting shut down due to chargebacks?
Over the past year, we have seen hundreds of founders dealing with payout holds, chargeback fees, and the worst - payment processor suspensions, all due to fraudulent activity in their Stripe accounts.
What’s the best way to prevent this? Two words: Chargeflow Alerts.
The way it works is simple - Chargeflow gets notified before chargebacks occur (disputed transaction), and takes corrective actions before the dispute evolves into a full-blown chargeback.
Why Chargeflow Alerts is different than other alerts chargeback alert services?
It doesn't matter if you're just getting started monetizing - it takes only a 0.65% dispute rate for Stripe to move your account to a Visa Monitoring Program. If you receive 1 Chargeback out of 100, you are already at 1%, so better be safe than having your account suspended.
Install Chargeflow Alerts in your business today for 50% off (offer valid until Dec 31)

TWO IDEAS, FRAMEWORKS OR CONCEPTS
This week we bring to you two concepts - Mere-Exposure Effect & Operant Conditioning
Mere-Exposure Effect
The Mere-Exposure Effect is a psychological phenomenon where people tend to develop a preference for things or individuals merely because they are familiar with them.
In simpler words, repeated exposure to a stimulus, whether it's a person, object, or idea, can lead to an increased liking or positive evaluation of that stimulus.
This effect suggests that familiarity breeds liking, even if there's no inherent quality that makes the stimulus likable. The more we encounter something, the more comfortable and positively disposed we become towards it. It plays a role in various aspects of human behaviour, from preferences for certain types of music to choices in social relationships.

Operant Conditioning
Operant conditioning is a psychological concept developed by B.F. Skinner, and it's all about learning through consequences – rewards or punishments.
Here's the breakdown: Individuals tend to repeat behaviours that are followed by favourable outcomes and, conversely, avoid behaviours that lead to negative consequences. It's like a learning process where the consequences of one's actions shape future behaviour.
In operant conditioning, there are two key components:
Reinforcement: This is the key to encouraging a behaviour. Positive reinforcement involves providing a reward after a desired behaviour, making it more likely for that behaviour to be repeated. On the flip side, negative reinforcement involves removing an unpleasant stimulus, also increasing the likelihood of the behaviour being repeated.
Punishment: This is about discouraging a behaviour. Positive punishment involves adding an undesirable consequence after an unwanted behaviour, while negative punishment involves taking away something pleasant, again with the aim of decreasing the likelihood of the behaviour happening again.
THREE NEWS FROM THE WEEK
Apple Halts Selling its Latest Smartwatches following Patent Row
Apple stopped selling Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 on its website from December 21, 2023, and will do so in its physical stores from Christmas Eve. It happened following ITC ruling in a patent row.
In October 2023, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that Apple's Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 infringed on patents held by medical technology company Masimo, specifically related to the blood oxygen sensor technology used in the watches.
Apple is appealing the ITC ruling and awaiting a presidential review by President Biden, who has the power to veto the import ban. Read More »»»

Angola announced its decision to leave the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) on December 21, 2023. This decision will take effect on January 1, 2024.
Angola's departure from OPEC follows recent disagreements within the group, particularly regarding production quotas. Angola, a major oil producer in sub-Saharan Africa, felt that the quotas imposed by OPEC were not in its best interests and were hindering its own production goals. Read More»»»

Scientists Develop a New Ultra-High Speed Processor
A team of scientists headed by Professor David Moss of the Swinburne University of Technology have developed a revolutionary new processor that can analyse 400,000 real-time video images per second operating at a speed of 17 Terabits per second, over 10,000 times faster than conventional electronic processors.
This scientific breakthrough marks a significant leap forward in signal processing technology and has the potential to revolutionize fields like artificial intelligence, driverless cars, medical imaging, and even space exploration. Read More »»»
