ONE STORY IN A PICTURE
TWO IDEAS, FRAMEWORKS OR CONCEPTS
This week we bring to you two concepts - Chesterton's Fence & Medici Effect
Chestertonโs Fence is a principle named after the British writer G.K. Chesterton.
The idea is that before you decide to remove or change something, it's crucial to understand why it was put there in the first place.
Imagine you come across a fence in the middle of nowhere. Even if you can't immediately see the purpose of that fence, it's unwise to tear it down without first understanding why it was erected. There might be a very good reason, even if it's not immediately apparent.
In a broader sense, this principle applies to many aspects of life, from traditions to policies to systems. It encourages us to consider the wisdom of those who came before us and to seek to understand the reasons behind established practices.

Medici Effect
Medici Effect a concept coined by Frans Johansson. It's a captivating notion that refers to the intersection of different disciplines, industries, or cultures, leading to the creation of innovative and ground-breaking ideas.
The name is inspired by the Medici family, who were patrons of the arts and sciences during the Italian Renaissance. They brought together thinkers, artists, and innovators from various fields, which led to a flourishing of creativity and new ideas leading ultimately to the Renaissance.
In today's context, the Medici Effect encourages us to seek out diverse perspectives and to embrace the collision of different fields or cultures. It's in these intersections that some of the most brilliant and unexpected innovations can emerge.

Canada requires streaming platforms to register with CRTC
In Canada, Online Streaming Act, which was passed in April 2023 has come in effect with the new regulations from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) that require all online services with audio or video content, including social media, to register with the regulator by November 28, 2023.
The act is intended to require digital platforms to contribute to and promote Canadian content. The Canadian government has directed the CRTC not to regulate content made by social media creators, or content that is only available on social media platforms.
