ONE STORY IN A PICTURE
TWO IDEAS, FRAMEWORKS OR CONCEPTS
This week we bring to you two frameworks - Memory Dividends & Uphill Decision Razor
Memory Dividends
Memory Dividends is a compelling concept that underscores the enduring value of continuous learning and knowledge accumulation.
Think of it like a financial investment in your brain's "bank account." Each piece of information you acquire is akin to making a deposit, and over time, these deposits accumulate interest. This interest manifests in the form of improved problem-solving abilities, heightened creativity, and sharper decision-making skills.
Much like financial investments, the more you diversify your knowledge portfolio, the greater the potential returns. This mental model serves as a powerful incentive for individuals to actively engage in learning and education. It highlights the fact that the benefits of learning extend far beyond immediate applications, offering a continuous stream of rewards throughout one's personal and professional journey.
By embracing the principle of Memory Dividends, individuals can unlock the full potential of their intellectual capital, reaping rewards that compound over time. It's a potent reminder of the profound and lasting impact of lifelong learning.

Uphill Decision Razor
The Uphill Decision Razor is a valuable mental framework for making important choices, particularly in complex or challenging situations.
Imagine facing a decision as if you were at the base of a steep hill, looking up. Each option you have is represented by a different path leading to the top. The Uphill Decision Razor encourages you to consider the path that might be more difficult initially, but promises greater rewards or benefits in the long run.
This mental model prompts you to weigh the short-term challenges against the potential long-term gains. It's a way to remind yourself that sometimes, taking the harder path can lead to more significant achievements or outcomes.
The Uphill Decision Razor can be a powerful tool specially for entrepreneurs, as it encourages them to look beyond immediate gratification and consider the broader, future-oriented perspective when making crucial choices.

Is Federal Trade Commission heading to break Amazon up?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is reportedly moving to file an antitrust lawsuit against Amazon, alleging that the company has engaged in anti-competitive practices that have harmed consumers and businesses. The lawsuit could ultimately lead to Amazon being broken up into smaller companies.
The FTC has been investigating Amazon for several years, and the lawsuit is the culmination of that investigation. The FTC alleges that Amazon has used its market power to stifle competition in a number of ways. The so-called "Last Rites" meeting between the FTC and Amazon on August 15, 2023 did not reach any conclusion. Read More »»»
