TWO IDEAS, FRAMEWORKS OR CONCEPTS
This week we bring to you two concepts - Deferred Happiness Syndrome & Anna Karenina Principle
Deferred Happiness Syndrome
Deferred Happiness Syndrome, also known as Delayed Gratification Syndrome, refers to a psychological phenomenon where individuals consistently postpone their happiness and well-being, believing that they can only experience contentment or fulfilment in the future, once certain conditions are met or goals are achieved. This mindset can lead to excessive focus on future achievements, neglecting present joys and satisfaction, which may adversely affect mental health and overall life satisfaction.
Balancing long-term goals with appreciating the present moment is essential to avoid the negative impacts of Deferred Happiness Syndrome.

Anna Karenina Principle
The Anna Karenina Principle, named after Leo Tolstoy's novel "Anna Karenina," is a concept used in various fields, including science, to describe situations where success requires multiple conditions to be met, and failure can result from any one of these conditions not being fulfilled. The principle is derived from the novel's famous opening line, "All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
In essence, the principle suggests that for a system to function effectively, all necessary elements must be in place and working harmoniously. However, if any essential factor is missing or flawed, it can lead to failure or undesirable outcomes. The term is commonly used to illustrate the complexity of achieving success in a wide range of fields, emphasizing the need for comprehensive and precise planning to avoid potential pitfalls.
THREE NEWS FROM THE WEEK
With X is Elon taking Twitter on the path of WeChat?
Earlier this week, Twitter was rebranded as X, which is being seen as the first step in the direction of Musk's ambition to turn Twitter into a "king of everything app", similar to the Chinese app WeChat. WeChat is a multi-purpose app that allows users to do everything from messaging to paying bills. Musk believes that Twitter has the potential to become a similar platform.

India’s bid to become Semiconductor hub
The Semicon India 2023 conference was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, on July 28-29, 2023. The conference was attended by over 5,000 delegates from India and around the world. The Indian government has announced that it will provide 50% financial assistance to companies that set up semiconductor manufacturing facilities in India. This is a significant incentive, expected to attract major investment in the Indian semiconductor industry in order to put India on its mission to become a major semiconductor manufacturing hub.

Is the first room-temperature ambient-pressure Superconductor here?
A team of South Korean physicists have claimed creating the first room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductor. The material is a modified form of lead-apatite called LK-99, and it is supposed to be superconductive with critical temperature of 127°C (261°F). It means that superconductors could now be used in real-world applications without the need for expensive cryogenics. The potential applications are vast, and it could revolutionize the way we generate and transmit electricity. Access the published paper.
