Emerging Technologies - A New Battleground?
The comparative analysis of technology growth between United States of America and the People’s Republic of China is not a new hobby among watch dogs, think tankers and other enthusiasts. China’s growth story was largely written through its ability to evolve itself in a highly efficient low cost manufacturing site for the products which technology advancement in USA made possible. But over years as China grew economically, the balance of technological superiority started moving.
In last couple of decade, PRC has started emerging as a strong adversay to USA in creating and controling advanced technology. Now, China seems to be well ahead in terms of Emerging Critical Technologies and at the same time USA seems to be lagging not only in action but also in intent to boost its technology development programs and rapid rollouts.
Here is a report of Australian Strategic Policy Institute which tracks monopoly status among top countries on 44 critical technologies. China leads on 37 out of those 44 technologies.
